The new all-electric Macan

Porsche's latest venture, the all-electric Macan, signifies a thrilling evolution marked by enhanced sportiness and exceptional efficiency. With a keen emphasis on aerodynamics and design, it stands out as one of Porsche's finest models to date.

Testing and Development

Undergoing rigorous testing, the all-electric Macan has been meticulously crafted for peak performance, enduring over three and a half million test kilometres across diverse terrains. Porsche's commitment to the driving experience is evident, with thorough testing covering extreme temperature ranges from minus 30 degrees Celsius in Scandinavia to plus 50 degrees Celsius in Death Valley, California, ensuring the Macan's readiness for any adventure.

Further developments have taken place regarding the electric range. As one of the most aerodynamic SUVs, it achieves a range of over 500 km (310 miles) for all variants according to WLTP*.

Performance and Aerodynamics

Collaborative efforts between engineers and designers were integral to preserving the Macan's DNA, ensuring its distinctive characteristics while incorporating aerodynamics for extended range and heightened efficiency.

Renowned for its exceptional performance, comfort, and luxury, the Macan prioritises driving dynamics, setting a mesmerising standard by Porsche's measures. Boasting 420 KW (equivalent to 563 bhp) and accelerating from 0-62mph in under 4 seconds, this new phase in Porsche manufacturing is truly admirable.

Additionally, engineers have implemented advanced features such as the Porsche Active Suspension Management system, two-valve damper technology, air suspension, rear-axle transverse lock, and, for the first time, rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to five degrees. The utilisation of the state-of-the-art Porsche wind tunnel further ensures meticulous balance between aesthetics and function for maximum performance.

Charging

“There are different charging standards in our main markets. A major focus of the testing has therefore been on checking these different framework conditions in the different locations with our prototypes and adapting the technology accordingly where necessary. Charging simply has to work, wherever and whenever,” says Jörg Kerner, Vice President Product Line Macan.

The new Macan's electric motors are powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery in the underbody, with up to 95 kWh actively usable. Its 800-volt PPE architecture supports high-performance fast charging, reaching up to 270 kW at 800-volt stations.

Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes under 22 minutes at 400-volt stations, thanks to a battery switch enabling efficient 150 kW charging without an HV booster. AC charging is possible at up to 11 kW.
