The Porsche Panamera – A Sports Car for Four

28/4/2022

Despite being one of the newer members of the Porsche line-up, the Panamera still manages to reflect the very essence of the Porsche brand, delivering staggering performance and luxury heritage at the same time.

The Panamera was first revealed to the world at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2009. With a name inspired by the Carrera Panamericana race the Panamera’s design was clearly influenced by the Porsche 989, a concept product introduced in the 1980’s. The four-door design positioned this latest vehicle from Porsche, at the practical end of the performance car world, all without losing the power and performance that Porsche is famed for. Initially the Panamera was available in three model variants; S, 4S, and Turbo which was particularly well known for the dramatic exhaust note produced by its 4.8-litre V8 engine that generated 400 horsepower. This powertrain evolved over time, turning into a 3.6-litre V6 engine, and eventually becoming the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine that we see in the current Panamera.

Today, the Panamera has a much larger list of model derivatives, the latest being the 4 Platinum Edition, available in a classic Gran Turismo or the versatile Sport Turismo body Style with several E-Hybrid powertrains, providing Porsche performance to the eco-minded enthusiast.

The Panamera Platinum Edition benefits from many additional standard options that were not previously included in the base price of the car. These details can be spotted in the exterior and interior styling as well as within the performance orientated, non-visible options. This includes but is not limited to, the panoramic roof system, LED matrix main headlights with PDLS Plus, adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, black sports tailpipes, Exclusive Design Taillights, Exclusive 21-inch Sport alloy wheels, door sill guards in brushed aluminium in black with “Platinum Edition” lettering, 14-way front comfort seats with memory package, Porsche crests on the front and rear headrests, GT sports steering wheel and heated rear seats. A Platinum Edition would be incomplete without exclusive Satin Platinum features and this Panamera is no exception. It has ‘E-Hybrid’ logos, a rear Porsche logo, model designation and air outlets just behind the front wheel all finished in Satin Platinum. If the newest technology is what you are looking for, the Platinum Edition also arrives with the latest generation of Porsche Communication Management. Users now benefit from numerous new features for infotainment such as native integration of Android Auto™ and Spotify.

Over the past 13 years the Panamera has positioned itself as the driver’s performance saloon. Its established, well-polished aura is complimented by the connected feeling of a true sports car, gripping the road with conclusive comfort.
