911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design

911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design

19/1/2022

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, son of Ferry Porsche, had a vision of extending Porsche Principal and legend beyond the boundaries of the automotive world. In 1972, F. A. Porsche founded Porsche Design, which is now looking back at five decades of timeless design. For this anniversary, the Chronograph 1 is reproduced true to the original for the first time, and will be available in a new limited version

In celebration of 50 years of Porsche Design, the 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design is an exclusive member of the 911 family. Limited to 750 cars worldwide, this Edition has the character of the first Porsche Design products, such as the famous Chronograph 1. Designed to be reminiscent of the last 911 designed by F. A. Porsche, the 911 Targa. The result is a Porsche Targa 4 GTS with an attractive combination of colour and equipment options. Striking with an elegant black exterior with contrasting satin Platinum accents to match.

The exclusive Chronograph is only available to buyers of the 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche design and will be limited to 750. The watch is bespoke to the vehicle with the laser engraving of the limited number on the case back. Chronograph 1 was the first product that F. A. Porsche designed in 1972. The ‘Chronograph 1 – 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design’ is based on the original. An expression of the common roots of Porsche and Porsche Design.

Porsche Design has remained true to the original appearance of the 1972 chronograph. From the bilingual date display to the original red colour of the hands - the Sports Chrono Package in the vehicle also features the same red colour of the hands. All changes to the original design represent the development into the present with new technology, while the overall design serves as a reference to the past. The sapphire crystal bottom reveals the winding rotor, which, like the rim of 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design, echoes the 911 Turbo S wheel. The rotor cap with the Porsche Crest evokes the central locking of the exclusive wheel.

Driven by the aspiration and passion to keep creating new icons, Porsche Design looks into the future. Passion that creates icons. Yesterday. Today. And for the next 50 years.
