Restoracing Awards Dinner at Pennyhill Park

17/10/2019

On Friday 11 October, the Porsche Classic Restoracing 2019 season culminated with an awards dinner at the Pennyhill Park Hotel in Surrey. The Restoracing team from Porsche Centre Cardiff left their team t-shirts and race suits at home and donned their cocktail attire for a special evening of dinner, entertainment and awards.

After a fantastic five-course dinner, we were treated to a comedy performance by Matt Ford, who has featured on Mock the Week, before the evening moved on to the much anticipated awards section.

Three awards were presented on the night by James Toye, Acting Manager of Owner Services from Porsche Card Great Britain. The first was for the overall winner of the 2019 Championship. This went to Porsche Centre Bournemouth, whose car was skilfully driven by Ben McLoughlin, who won almost all of the races.

The Driver of the Year award went to one of Ben’s closest competitors and the driver of the Pink Pig, Will Heslop from Porsche Centre Wolverhampton. This young driver, with his enthusiasm and spirited driving, had given Ben a run for his money on a number of occasions.

The final award was claimed by Porsche Centre Swindon for Marketing Activity. Each Centre had submitted a case study showcasing the work they had done to promote the Restoracing season, and their car in particular. The award took five factors into consideration: events activity, social media, website content, customer communication and engagement, and race presence and support.

You can view the Porsche Centre Cardiff case study to see all of the activity we undertook in the course of the year.

Next year, the Porsche Classic Restoracing Championship is evolving into the Porsche Classic Boxster Cup and a big change to the series is the introduction of 'open entry'. Now, anyone can enter the series, independently or in conjunction with a participating Porsche Centre, so there will be a larger race grid and even more exciting races in 2020.
